Pioneer of syndesmosis procedure
Wu's no-bone-breaking bunion surgery is officially called "syndesmosis procedure". The name of "syndesmosis" was given to reflect the fundamental principle of its surgical objective. Syndesmosis is an anatomical structure in our body that provides side-to-side fibrous connection between two long bones, such as the case between tibia and fibula of the leg bones.
Syndesmosis procedure is to create a natural and biological bonding between the first and second metatarsal necks to maintain the newly corrected alignment of first metatarsal bone permanently.
Syndesmosis procedure can not only provide complete correction of bunion deformity without breaking any bones but also provide a definitive means for recurrence prevention that is noticeably lacking in "bone-breaking" procedures.
Syndesmosis procedure has been developed and refined for over 20 years. |
